Eastern Europe has a bright philatelic future. It is now twenty years since economic and political reforms brought formerly closed and repressed societies into the global community. Many of these countries are now members of the European Union, and others are on track to join within the next few years. These changes are reflected in the increasing popularity of stamps from Eastern Europe, whether they are the many attractive and interesting issues from the more recently-independent countries or those of the truly classic period of philately, and the market is now strongly supported by demand from the increasingly prosperous countries of origin. Even the formerly-shunned issues of the communist period are attracting renewed interest. The area is a particularly rich source for thematic, or topical, collectors. The ever-popular Scandinavian countries have now been added to stock.
I have been specialising in Eastern European stamps since 1983 and have built up a network of reliable suppliers in many countries. These stamps are offered to you in the following ways.
